Dan pobjede i domovinske zahvalnosti i Dan hrvatskih branitelja, 5. kolovoza, svečano je obilježen i u Zlataru. Na gradskom groblju, kod Spomen križa, gradonačelnik Stanko Majdak i zamjenica gradonačelnika Jasenka Auguštan Pentek, te predstavnici Udruge HVIDRA – podružnice Zlatar i Udruge ratnih veterana 1. gardijske brigade “Tigrovi”, te zlatarskog ogranka Hrvatskog domobrana, u prijepodnevnim su satima položili cvijeće i zapalili svijeće, odajući i minutom šutnje počast svima poginulima za Hrvatsku. Posebice se to odnosi na 25 branitelja s područja bivšeg Ureda za obranu Zlatar Bistrica i Marija Bistrica, koji su na ratištima diljem Hrvatske tijekom 90-tih godina dali svoje živote u stvaranju slobodne Hrvatske. Svečanom davanju počasti prisustvovali su i članovi Gradskoga vijeća Zlatara. Na 20. obljetnicu vojno-redarstvene operacije Oluja prigodnim riječima podsjetio je gradonačelnik Stanko Majdak, govoreći i o veličanstvenom vojnom mimohodu u Zagrebu, kojemu je nazočio, te proslavi u Kninu.
